How Do We Know The Technique is Working? June 21, 2017 By Steve Barham
Ok, we have a technique that works on negative emotions, reducing and even stopping them and many if not all of their effects. How do we know the technique is working? There are 3 steps to the technique, but there is an “end stage” a 4th phase. “Dissipation”. This is when we notice the emotion is reducing and we start to notice relief, the cessation of the emotion and any associated sensations, like tension, and nervousness. There are several noticeable manifestations.
A lessening of tension. Like a knot loosening up. Things start to relax.
A “lightening up” effect, you feel “brighter, lighter”, and more positive as negativity and thoughts wind down.
Laughter. Sometimes you chuckle a bit, and sometimes you just Belly Laugh yourself silly…it is amazing. It is an involuntary laughter; you are releasing the negativity and tensions, etc… there can be a bit, or a lot. A momentary chuckle, or 10 minutes or more of full on hilarious laughter.
You may notice relief in an area of your body where there was pain, it might vanish. I had a lower back ache carrying firewood. It was gone in about 5 minutes of doing the technique, with no cessation of activity.
You may notice something “lifts” off of you… like a Veil. I saw this once, a “darkness” up and lifted out of me while doing the technique… a Shade, so to speak. There is a sensation of something lifting and disintegrating, or “flittering” away… like a Fog clearing up.
You notice that it is just plain gone, and you feel better. No pressure, tension, stress, anxiety, Panic Attacks stopped. Hysteria stopped, (overwrought), no negative emotion left on that issue, (fear, worry, anger, grief, etc…), PTSD symptoms stop, flashbacks reduced and stopped, and no emotional content in them. Depression is lifted, no Suicidal Thoughts. Etc… you notice it has STOPPED. And it can. It can either reduce, or stop. Most things if stopped don’t return. There is no more “charge” to power it, or hold it in place, it is “unstuck”. You are FREE. Happiness level raises, you notice.
You may have a “Realization” of the episode, this can be a “life lesson”, or it can be an observation…and epiphany, “OOOHH!!!! That is what it is about.” Type of thing. “A moment of Truth” for you. You may see something very SILLY in the situation and start laughing that way as well.
You may breathe a “sigh” of relief. It is involuntary. Small or larger. It is usually one of the first signs I notice. It is part of the release of the "Charge", a sign of "dissipation".
When one or more of these occur, and you notice that emotion or state has stopped, and you are feeling better... you can stop doing the technique on that. You are finished with that.
There may be other manifestations that you notice, but these are the major ones I have personally observed. I hope this helps you understand the workings of the technique better. When the “Charge”, or Negative Emotional Load is leaving, one or more of these should be noticeable. It may not be in any particular order. Just be aware they can happen, but don't expect all of them. It may only be one or two of them. “When can I stop doing the technique?”, When you feel the relief, and notice that the state has stopped. If it comes back, just continue the technique on that, and maybe look for more emotions in the episode, are there any other charges on that issue? If so, work on them. I had been doing the technique on Stress, and it was not dissipating even after many minutes. I noticed another state. I had been Traumatized. Adding "Trauma" to the technique with "Stress" was the ticket, it stopped in very short order, maybe under 2 minutes. No Kidding. On the top menu, (I can't change the colors of it, sorry.)
